An Overdrive Projector or Overdrive Dome is preferable for boosting the Spectre's fire rate instead of using liquids, as this turret consumes a lot for only a meagre boost.Anywhere space or resource tile count is a limiting factor, phase overdrives. This gives an extra 75 boost to thorium production and phase fabric as a result. However, you will forsake the benefits of Cryofluid's freezing effects as the burning cancels out the health penalty, and it's the hardest ammo to supply due to the slow production speed of Pyratite Mixers which can make it difficult to prevent the Spectre from running out of ammo when dealing with large waves of enemies. For example, on Desolate Rift I build 4 airblasts covering all but one tile of thorium, make phase nearby, and put phase in the overdrive. Pyratite ammo has the best damage out of all ammo types and inflicts burning, which synergises strongly with Oil Tsunamis for further destruction.However, this may not be desirable if you want coal for other purposes like Silicon production, and due to lacking any piercing abilities the Spectre may get overwhelmed more easily against hordes of enemies. Graphite ammo's +70% fire rate gives it higher DPS compared to thorium.Pyratite: (70 + 20) x 8.57 = 771.3 DPS not including the effects of burning.However it has the lowest damage output out of all the ammo options (see below.) Thorium ammo deals the most knockback out of all ammo types and is the easiest to supply since it can be used straight from a drill.Use this turret for maximising close-range damage against guardians. Spectres are a great late-game addition to your defence as they have high DPS and pierce and a very convenient ammo source in the form of Thorium, which comes from the drill.Gained 20 area damage spanning 3.1 tiles.Some changes may have been added in builds between Version 6 and 7.
